LHC stops Frenchman's repatriation

RAWALPINDI - Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench Friday issued stay orders regarding the repatriation of a French national J. Luck. The court also directed the Ministry of Interior not to repatriate the French national for as long as the petition, in which he sought extension in his visa to stay in Pakistan, is pending. According to details, J. Luck, a French national, moved the court through Advocate Abbassi and made Ministry of Interior the respondent. The petitioner informed the court that he came to Pakistan with diplomatic status ten years ago. Later, he established the French Club and UN Club in the federal capital and brought foreign investment in the country in 2009. He continued that he registered a firm namely Diplomatic Food and Beverage and also set up a restaurant in the diplomatic enclave. He, however, told the court that he gave an application to the Ministry of Interior to get extension in his visa but the ministry rejected it without assigning any reason. The French national prayed before the court that it direct the ministry to extend his visa, which was already rejected by the same unlawfully and illegally. He also prayed that the court direct the ministry not to repatriate him while the petition is pending in the court.
