Top Qaeda commander arrested in Karachi

KARACHI - One of the most-wanted Al-Qaeda commanders Adam Yahiye Gadahn, who was arrested from Super Highway near Nooriabad Karachi some two weeks ago, has been shifted to Islamabad for questioning, The Nation has learnt. According to reports, the security forces had captured Gadahn, a closed aide of Osama bin Laden with $1 million head money by the United States, along with one of his associates. Sources revealed that Gadahn is a California-born American, and was among the top 10 most-wanted Al-Qaeda members. It is said that they had been held while they were on their way to Karachi. It has been reported that the US State Department indicted him in the Central District of California for treason and material support to Al-Qaeda. The charges are related to Gadahns alleged involvement in a number of terrorist activities, including providing aid, comfort and services to Al-Qaeda. Sources say that Gadahn have different identities like Abu Suhayb Al-Amriki, Abu Suhail Al-Amriki, Abu Suhayb, Yihya Majadin Adams, Adam Pearlman, Yayah, Azzam the American and Azzam Al-Amriki. Another source in a security agency, while confirming the arrest, said Gadahn was arrested along with a top leader of Taliban some two weeks ago and information had been being leaked now after shifting the accused to the federal capital for further interrogation.
