In occupied Kashmir, despite the flag march by Indian army and tight curfew, people held forceful anti-India protest demonstrations at various places in the occupied territory. According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian police and paramilitary troops fired in air, burst smoke shells and resorted to baton charge to disperse the demonstrators, injuring 29 persons. Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel (CRPF) fired in air, burst teargas shell and mercilessly beat up the people including women when hundreds of protesters took to the streets and held demonstrations at Khurhama in Ganderbal. At least 14 persons were injured in the CRPF action. Senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi led a massive anti-India demonstration at Budgam Chowk. Addressing the protesters on the occasion, he condemned the restrictions on the movement of people and media-persons. Defying curfew, people staged demonstrations in Baramulla, Rafiabad Goshbug Palhalan, Batamaloo, Bemina and Tengpora By-pass araes. Indefinite curfew continued in south Kashmir's Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts. The residents of Islamabad said that the authorities from last three days had not given any relaxation in the curfew. "We are facing the brunt of an acute shortage of essential commodities but the authorities from the last three days have not given any relaxation in the curfew thus adding to our woes," the residents told media men over phone. They further said that strict curbs enforced by the authorities had added to the agonies of the seriously ill patients, as they were not being allowed to visit the hospital or purchase the medicines from the market. Police during crackdown operations arrested more than three-dozen youth from Islamabad, Kulgam, Pulwama and Qaimoh towns. Hundreds of doctors and other employees of Soura Institute of Medical Sciences staged a protest demonstration inside the compound and demanded stern action against Indian troops and policemen involved in the recent killing of innocent civilians.
