JEDDAH (APP) - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Sunday said the proposed constitutional package does not relate to any specific person rather it aims at bringing about balance of power between different state institutions. He was addressing the Pakistani community here after the inauguration of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Auditorium at Pakistan International School. Co-Chairman PPP Asif Zardari flanked by Prime Minister Gilani unveiled the plaque of auditorium named after late Benazir Bhutto. Asif Ali Zardari speaking on the occasion said the legal wing of PPP had presented the package after much deliberation, however, it was not sacrosanct and could be changed. He said the package also deals with the abrogation of the Constitution and penalties have been suggested for those responsible. The Pakistan International School was decorated with huge portraits of Quaid-e-Azam, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and the party flags. The Prime Minister addressing the ceremony that was attended by a large number of Pakistan community living in Saudi Arabia and the PPP workers, said the PPP believes in supremacy of parliament and strengthening of institutions. Gilani termed the hanging of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto as a judicial murder and said the matter will be re-opened for investigation. The PM said PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif had assured that after the resolution of judges' issue he, in consultation with his party, would support the idea. Referring to the lawyers' movement, Gilani said the PPP was at the forefront in the struggle of lawyers and said no one else can make any claim that they were ahead of the PPP in this regard. The PM said the people of country have voted in power the moderates and said a broad-based government has been formed to develop consensus on national issues. It has been replicated at the provinces by setting aside political differences, he added. Gilani said Pakistan was in safe hands and the party had deep roots among masses. He said extremism and terrorism have seriously damaged the country's image and asked the expatriates to play their role in portraying the soft image of Pakistan, being the ambassadors of country. The PM Gilani and Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari also responded to the queries of participants and said the PPP was pursuing democracy in letter and spirit, both within and outside the party. Gilani said despite being from Punjab and not belonging to Bhutto family, he was elected and is serving as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. To a question, he agreed in principle that expatriates be given the right of vote but said the matter would be discussed.
