Missile strike kills 12 in North Waziristan

At least a dozen militants including foreigners were killed and about three others were wounded in the latest US missile strike Sunday in country's tribal region. Two missiles were by an unmanned US drone at a house in Inzarkas village, 50 kilometres (31 miles) west of Miranshah, in North Waziristan tribal agency, security officials informed a Private TV Channel. The attack completely destroyed the house and local tribal sources said that huge thick smoke rising from the targeted house could be seen from far away. Security officials said that the strike killed six militants and wounded nine others. Tribal sources said that six of the wounded succumbed to injuries later while being shifted to a nearby hospital, bring the death toll to twelve. The killed included at least five foreign Al-Qaeda militants but their identities were not immediately known. However, tribal sources said that most of the killed were foreigners of Arab and Uzbek origin. The US has significantly increased drone strikes on North Waziristan this year. More than 900 people have been killed in over 100 drone strikes in Pakistan since August 2008.
