ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari on the advice of the prime minister on Thursday appointed four retired judges of the high courts as members of the Election Commission of Pakistan. The judges who have been appointed as ECP members include Justice (R) Fazal-ur-Rehman (Balochistan), Justice (R) Shahzad Akbar Khan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Justice (R) Riaz Kayani(Punjab) and Justice (R) Muhammad Roshan Essani (Sindh). The parliamentary committee on the appointment of chief election commissioner and members of the Election Commission in its meeting on June 1 had already confirmed the names of these four retired judges for appointment as members of the ECP. APP add: President Zardari on Thursday also appointed eight eminent persons as member of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII). Those who have been appointed members of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) include Maulana Allama Zubair Ahmed Zaheer (Punjab), Sahabzada Pir Khalid Sultan Al-Qadir (Balochistan), Justice (R) Mian Nazir Akhter (Punjab), Syed Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi (Punjab), Mufti Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Shah Faizi (Sindh), Syed Feroze Jamal Shah (KPK), Justice (R) Mushtaq A Memon (Sindh) and Qari M Hanif Jallandhari (Punjab).
