President to attend UNGA session

ISLAMABAD " President Asif Ali Zardari will participate in the two-day high-level session of the UN General Assembly on Culture of Peace starting from tomorrow at New York. "He will be accompanied by the Foreign Minister," said a Foreign Office statement issued here on Monday. "The session is being held at the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. He has been in the forefront of all efforts for promoting the cause of the global peace and harmony," the statement said. It said that Pakistan has always been in the forefront of efforts to promote global peace and harmony among peoples of diverse faith and culture. "Pakistan fully supports the initiative of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques for interfaith and inter-cultural dialogue to promote peace understanding, and tolerance among human beings, as well as respect for all their diverse religious, cultural and linguistic identities," it said. President Zardari will hold bilateral meetings with the Heads of State attending the high-level session.
