ISLAMABAD (APP) - This year, the amount of Sadqa-e-Fitr to be paid to the needy before Eid-ul-Fitr has been fixed at Rs 80 per member of the family, Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said Thursday. According to the market price of 2.25 kilograms flour, the amount for fitrana this year had been calculated at Rs 80", he said. The Chairman urged the people to pay the amount to poor before Eid so that deserving people could also celebrate the festival. According to Fiqha-e-Jafria, Chairman Tehreek-e-Akhuwat-Islami Allama Inayat Ali Shakir said the charity amount has been determined at Rs 105, adding rich Syed can give Fitrana to needy Syed but the Sadqa from non-Syed does not apply on Syed. The most deserving people for Sadq-e-Fitr are close relatives followed by neighbours and the poor. It is mandatory for every Muslim who possesses enough basic foodstuff to feed himself and his family for the duration of one day and one night to pay Sadqa-e-Fitr on behalf of himself, his wife, children and any dependents. Paying Fitrana is an act of thankfulness towards Allah Almighty for having enabled Muslims to observe the fasts of Ramazan and also purifies them from any shortcomings during the month. In addition, it is intended to share joy and happiness amongst Muslims, especially the poor and needy, enabling them to share joys of Eid.
