Zardari denies crackdown on media

Co-chairman Pakistan People's Party Asif Ali Zardari Monday said that he believes in media freedom and denied any plans of crackdown on the media.  In an exclusive chat with Geo News from London, PPP leader said that his party would back journalists in the next contempt of court hearing against Geo News. He said he has directed his lawyer Dr. Babar Awan to appear in the court in May 22 hearing on behalf of the newsmen.  Asif Zardari also said that he has not requested Dubai government for shutdown of transmissions of Geo TV.
