LAHORE - PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has appreciated the assistance provided by UK and other friends of Pakistan during the relief work for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Swat and Malakand Division. He was talking to senior UK Diplomat Mark Lyall who called on him at his Raiwind residence here on Wednesday. Nawaz also informed the guest about the PML-N and Punjab governments efforts for the relief and rehabilitation of the IDPs. Nawaz said that extremism was the result of dictatorial rules. He said that it was the duty of the democratic government to provide basic necessities, employment and justice to the people. Emphasising the development in the social sector, he referred to the importance of greater market access to Pakistani products to strengthen the economy, generate employment and reduce poverty. The PML-N Quaid recalled that UK and Pakistan had strong business and cultural relations. The British envoy appreciated PML-Ns efforts to restore judiciary, and that of Punjab governments efforts for the rehabilitation of IDPs. Mr Grant recalled that UK and Pakistan had deep cultural and historical relations. He appreciated the hard work and contribution of Pakistani expatriates in UKs economy and culture. He was accompanied by Mr Mathew Lawson and Mr Alistair King Smith. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Ch Nisar Ali Khan were also present on this occasion.
