3 victims of Kharotabad incident buried in Quetta

QUETTA - The funeral prayers of three foreigners killed in Kharotabad incident allegedly by firing of Frontier Corps and police were offered here on Sunday. Hundreds of people particularly hailing from Kharotabad where the tragic incident had occurred attended the funeral of a Tajik national, his Russian wife and a newly-born baby. Moving scenes were witnessed when the bodies were taken to Jabal-e-Noorul Quran graveyard located at Western Bypass area of Quetta where the funeral prayers of the victims were offered. Former Provincial Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi led the funeral prayers which were arranged by Al-Khidmat Foundation. The father and mother of Tajik national Nouman also participated in the funeral prayers and kept weeping throughout the burial process while the father brought mud of his country along to put it in the grave as a sign that his son was sleeping in the mud of his country. People condoled with the parents of victims over terrible killing of their loved ones. Talking to reporters, the parents of the victims said that they belonged to poor family and unable to take back the bodies to their country, therefore, they came to Quetta with the help of their Embassy. Responding to a question, they said they had brought the mud of their country to put it in the grave and feel some satisfaction that their loved ones were lying in the mud of their land. It may be recalled here that on May 17, five foreigners were killed by FC personnel and police in the Kharotabad, in the outskirts of Quetta, alleging three of those foreigners women and two men were wearing suicide jackets. An FC official was also killed in this incident while a woman killed in the firing was pregnant. Meanwhile, the taxi driver, who had brought the five foreigners from Kachlak toQuetta who were killed in Kharotabad area on May 17 allegedly by firing ofpolice and Frontier Corps, has confessed that all foreigners were unarmedand he was forced by police to give a false statement. The driver Atta Muhammad said this during case proceedings by the fact-findingmission chaired by the Prime Ministers Adviser on Human Rights MustafaNawaz Khokhar and later while talking to media here on Sunday. He said the foreigners hired his vehicle in Kachlak for Quetta. He said apolice officer namely Raza Khan checked them at Nausar check post and toldhim to take the foreigners to the police station. On way to the police station, the policemen and foreigners exchanged hot words and the policemen then told me to stop the vehicle, he said. As I stopped the vehicle the foreigners includingthree women tried to ran away and the police resorted to aerial firing beforefollowing them, he said.During the search daily use items were found from the luggage of foreigners, he added.
