In Mansehra, protest rallies and display of arms were banned under section 144. Police arrested PML-N city general secretary Inayat-ur-Rehman and Pakistan Tehreek Insaf leader Niaz Khan. In Nowshehra, JI leader Zafar-ul-Islam Farooqui and over 70 political workers have been arrested. The president of Peshawar High Court Bar Abdul Lateef Afridi was put under house arrest.
