QUETTA A police mobile van was attacked by a remote-controlled bomb in the provincial capital on Tuesday, police said. A mobile van of Shalkot police station was on routine patrolling at Western Bypass on the outskirts of Quetta when an explosive device planted across the roadside exploded soon after it passed by. Resultantly, the van partially damaged, however, the police officials remain unhurt. Soon after the attack, police and other personnel of law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. Sources said that explosives were detonated through remote-controlled device and police vehicle was the main target of it. No group has claimed responsibility for bomb attack so far. Police have registered a case and started investigation. Meanwhile, Shalkot police recovered a bullet- riddled body of a person identified as Rana Zafar from Kili Goharabad area of Quetta. Police shifted the body to hospital for autopsy. Hospital sources said that the victim had received six bullets on his body. Police after completing legal formalities handed over the body to heirs and started further investigation. However, motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
