Zardari phones Nawaz

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE - President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday telephoned Mian Nawaz Sharif in London and enquired after the health of his wife. The President prayed for early and full recovery of the wife of Mian Nawaz Sharif. The PML-N Quaid thanked the President for his gesture. He also thanked the President for sending Pakistans High Commissioner in the UK Wajid Shams-ul-Hasan to receive him and his family at the London airport. Nawaz Sharif, in response to Asif Zardaris telephone call on Sunday, has reportedly told the president that it is not PPP alone urging the need to strengthen democracy, as PML-N has also been doing the same since 2008 general elections. As per PML-N sources, Mian Nawaz Sharif complained that three years passed by but none of his suggestions was taken seriously by the government. On the issue of Justice (R) Deedar Hussain Shahs re-appointment as NAB chief, Nawaz Sharif told President Zardari that his lawyer late Ejaz Hussain Batalvi might have praised Justice Deedar, but he in his personal capacity never uttered any such opinion about him. Nawaz lamented that had the two parties developed their relations on the CoD, the country would not have faced such an alarming situation. He further told PPP Co-chairman that despite reservations over governments performance, especially regarding redress of peoples problems, the PML-N played a responsible role to save the system. He said that undemocratic attitude of certain PPP leaders led to confrontation among the political parties. The PML-N sources further said that only President Zardari could explain why he felt the need to consult Nawaz Sharif.
