PESHAWAR - Unknown armed persons kidnapped Iranian diplomat and Commercial AttachT Hashamat Attarzada on Thursday from Hayatabad area, while his security guard was gunned down, police said. The diplomat was on his way to office in his car (CC-2929) from his home at 7am when some unknown persons sprayed bullets at his police guard Syed Sajid Hussain Shah and took Hashmat to some unknown location. The guard succumbed to injures on the way to hospital. Hashmat was appointed at Iranian Consulate here in 2005. Soon after the incident, police force rushed to the site and put security at high alert in all over the provincial capital and its adjacent rural and tribal areas. Besides Peshawar, the political administration of Khyber Agency has also directed the security personnel for a tight checking at all check posts. The police have initiated efforts for his safe recovery. So far no one has claimed the responsibility for kidnapping the Iranian Diplomat. Capital City Police Chief Dr Sulaiman said that probe had been initiated and it was yet to be determined whether or not the Iranian Commercial AttachT had been shifted to Bara or adjacent Khyber Agency. He added that soon major security plan would be imposed and those who were involved in the repeated kidnapping incidents would be brought to book. He said police and Frontier Constabulary have already launched search operation in Mattra and Mehachi areas. It is worth mentioning here that during the last three months it is third incident of high profile kidnapping, as a couple of months before, Iranian Diplomat Abdul Khaliq Ferahi was also kidnapped from the same area while his driver was killed. Similarly another Afghan national and former radio newscaster and sitting Afghan Advisor on Rural Development and Rehabilitation Akhtar Jan Kohistani was also kidnapped from Kaltak village, district Chitral.
