New Zealander held in hit-and-run case

LAHORE A New Zealand citizen was arrested Sunday by Ghalib Market Police shortly after his car hit a bike, leaving two brothers injured. Paul George, who was driving a car with his wife, was taken into custody minutes after his car collided with a motorbike at Phuar Chowk, severely wounding the bike riders Arshad and Zain. Edhi and Rescue 1122 ambulances reached the spot and shifted the two brothers to the Services Hospital, where the condition of Arshad was told to be critical. His (Arshads one leg has been badly fractured and we are trying to recover his condition, an on duty doctor said, adding the condition of other injured was stable. Police sources said Paul George has said in his statement that he did not hit his car to the bike rather the bike went out of riders control and collided with his car. Police, however, lodged an FIR against Paul. Sources said he would be produced before the court where he would seek a bail. George is living in Lahore since 2006 on a Work Visa.
