Dadu rocked by rare bomb blast; two dead

DADU Two persons including the suspected bomber were killed and 13 others injured in a powerful blast that took place here in front of the seven-storey Marvi Hotel near Dadu Cinema Chowk on Sunday. The terrorist wanted to plant the bomb near the citys main chowk, which went off accidentally, SSP Special Branch Hyderabad Region Muhammad Ali Baloch told the media. As a result, a passer-by died and the suspected culprit was killed while 13 others sustained injuries. The blast shattered the windowpanes of nearby buildings, said SSP, adding that another suspected terrorist was arrested from the site of the blast. Soon after the blast, rescue teams and Edhi ambulances rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Dadu Civil Hospital. Most of the injured were passers-by. The police claimed to have recovered the head and body parts from the site of explosion. However, it will be premature to declare whether or not the head was of the terrorist. Dadu DPO Ghazi Salahuddin and bomb disposal squad cordoned off the area and all roads leading to the spot were sealed off. The Johi Police is stated to have arrested 10 people from a local seminary in Johi. The blast brought activities in the entire city to a grinding halt, while a large number of people came out from their premises and chanted slogans against the terrorists. The injured were identified as: Razzaque Ali, Rahib Alim, Mukhtiar, Ghulam Moham-mad, Arslan, Mohammad Ismail, Rafique, Mohammad Ismail, Jaro Khan and Badal (alias) Buxial Khan Brohi. Following the incident, MPA Kalsoom Chandio visited the Civil Hospital to inquire about the health of the injured. The MPA told the reporters that three injured were still in critical state. Meanwhile, Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq also visited the hospital and inquired after the injured. Sindh Irrigation Minister Murad Ali Shah, State Minister for Food and Agriculture Rais Rafique Ahmed Jamali, MPA Rasheeda Panhwer, Sindh United Party Leader Syed Jala Mehmood Shah and others condemned the blast and expressed their sympathises with the affected families.
