Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the roadmap for settlement of the Kashmir dispute lies in the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir, which call for right to self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani was reacting to the statement of the interlocutors appointed by India on Kashmir wherein they announced that roadmap for Kashmir settlement would be framed in next six to nine months. In a media interview, he said that the interlocutors were giving statements in pursuit to the Indian policy of buying the time. He pointed out that the recognition of Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory and fulfilment of the promises made by Indian leaders from time to time also constituted the roadmap towards resolving the longstanding conflict. The veteran Hurriyet leader urged the Kashmiri people to stick to the historic perspective of the dispute. "The road map lies in the historic perspective of the long-pending issue," he added. Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement deplored that some writers were trying to malign the ongoing Quit Kashmir Movement. "Our movement is well planned and everything has positive as well as negative sides, but to achieve something, we may have to sacrifice something," he said. "From the day one some writers have had a grudge and they have been highlighting the only negative aspects of the movement. To do so seems their only motive," he said adding that these writers were least bothered about killing of civilians or molestation of women by Indian troops.
