WANA - A guard of a peace committee was killed, while nine others got injuries when a suicide bomber blew himself up at Wana in South Waziristan Agency on Sunday. According to police, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a congested fruit market at tehsil Shakair. The deceased guard was identified as Nazir Ullah Wazir, while the injured included M Irfan, Haji Gul, Qadir, Zainullah, Shaukat Ali, Qutab Khan, Khan Wali, Shoaib Khan and Gul Badshah. The bomber, who was in his 20s was allegedly tasked to target commander of the committee Tehsil Khan Wazir, who was present at the market at the time of the blast, however, he remained unhurt as he was at a distance from the blast site. Eyewitnesses said that notables and commander of the peace committee arrived there to know about the presence of the bomber at the market. Meanwhile, the guards got alerted the moment they saw a suspicious person and tried to encircle him. However, sensing the situation, the bomber exploded himself, as a result, ten persons present there got wounds, later one of them, Nazir Ullah Wazir died, while rest of the injured were rushed to district headquarters hospital Dera Ismail Khan and agency headquarters hospital Wana. Of them, three are stated to be in critical condition. The political administration has confirmed and started investigation into the incident.
