Senate elections to be held on schedule even if Punjab Assembly dissolved: Sher Afgan

Former Federal Minister Dr Sher Afgan Niazi has said that Senate election would be held on time even if the Punjab Assembly was dissolved. Talking to media persons here in Mianon Saturday, Dr Sher Afgan Niazi said that no move can create any hurdle in the way of conducting Senate polls and they would be held on schedule. He said that the Unification Bloc in Punjab Assembly is illegal and has no constitutional credibility. The former minister said that if the members of the Unification Bloc gave vote of confidence to Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, their assembly membership would be cancelled ultimately. Dr Sher Afgan said that the democratic system is the only solution of the ongoing crises and democratic rule should continue to drag the country out of the prevailing situation. He said that major political parties that signed the Charter of Democracy (CoD) should play their role to stabilise the democratic institutions.
