Terrorist held; explosives recovered

ISLAMABAD - Police have arrested an alleged terrorist from the area of Sabzi Mandi and recovered explosive material from his possession while three of his accomplices have managed to escape, a police official disclosed Wednesday. As per sources, the police received a tip-off that four terrorists, sent by Tariq, a militant commander of TTP, Darra Adamkhail Chapter, were coming to Islamabad by public transport and would, probably, first reach Pirwadahi Bus Stand on Tuesday. On receiving the information, Sabzi Mandi Police Station constituted a team, headed by the SHO, to arrest the suspects. On Tuesday, when the police team intercepted four suspects, three managed to escape while one was arrested. Upon search, police recovered three-hand grenades and kalashnikov bullets from his possession. The sources also said that the alleged terrorist have been identified as Atta Ullah Khan, 29. He belongs to Kohat. Online adds: The police have arrested an important member of Commander Tariq Farooqi Group, Atta Ullah, involved in the murder of Polish Engineer, from the federal capital. According to police sources, the arrested terrorist was also present in the video of beheading of the Polish engineer. The sources also said that he was involved in plotting four suicide attacks in Kohat, including a suicide blast at the house of GCO Kohat. According to the police, Atta Ullah during investigation revealed that Bilal had carried out the suicide attack at the house of GCO Kohat. The sources said that Atta Ullah, also wanted in the murder case of Benazir Bhutto, had told the security agencies that he had information about terrorists networks involved in the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team. The sources further disclosed that Atta Ullah wanted to carry out a terror attack by hiding a bomb in a tape recorder. The police also have taken the tape recorder into its custody, the sources added.
