90% of Mohmand Agency cleared of militants; IDPs return home

Security forces have cleared ninety percent area of Mohmand Agency from the militants, normal life restored and development activities have been launched. According to sources in the political administration, the security forces have set up check posts at key points to provide security to the people and large number of people are returning to their homes. Some 8,000 IDPs were provided relief items to survive for few months till they start their normal activities of life. The sources said that a school destroyed by the militants has been completed and will resume classes very soon while infrastructure development work including construction of roads has also been taken up. Some of the IDPs who returned to the agency in the past few days expressed their satisfaction over the law and order situation but spoke of poor condition of roads and shortage of health and water supply facilities. Meanwhile sources said that the security forces continue to launch operation in the remaining ten percent areas of the agency to clear it from the militants.
