Prominent Taliban commander arrested

PESHAWAR - The security agencies arrested Anwarul Haq Mujahid, a prominent Afghan commander and close associate of former Jihadi leader Mulvi Younis Khalis, along with four companions from Gul Bahar area of Peshawar, reliable sources disclosed on Tuesday. As per the sources, Anwarul Haq Mujahid had headed Tora Bora militants, a group responsible for attacking the NATO forces. He had close links with al-Qaeda and foreign militants. However, his relation with former Taliban chief Mulha Mohammad Umar had not been cordial. He also had been active in Khyber Agency and had appointed Mustafa Kamran, killed in May by police force, as chief of Taliban, Khyber Agency Chapter.
