ISLAMABAD - Thousands of devotees were sitting spell-bound in and outside the mosque premises when cleric, Maulana Abdul Aziz, after 20-months long jail term delivered his first sermon at Jumma prayers in the Lal Masjid vowing to continue struggle for the enforcement of Sharia law in Pakistan. Islamic law is the solution to all problems being faced by the country, he said adding the government should enforce Islamic law in the country without any delay. Faithful from far and wide and in a large number had turned up to attend to Lal Masjid Khatibs sermon. The cases against the cleric included forcible occupation of Children Library, abduction of Chinese engineers and murder of Rangers personnel. Some over 20,000 followers reached Lal Masjid to offer Jumma prayer behind their beloved 'Khatib. Thousands of people could be seen on the roads and adjacent areas of the mosque as it was fully packed. Arshad Hussain a devotee told TheNation that he had come from Kashmir to offer prayer behind his beloved Khatib. It was also noted that devotees embraced each other and greeted each other for the release of Maulana Abdul Aziz. The Lal Masjid gained more importance after the operation by former dictator Musharraf in 2007. In the Jumma address Maulana Abdul Aziz said, Despite passage of 62 years we could not implements Sharia laws in the country thats way we are facing multiple problems adding that Islamic laws is the solution of all problems whatever being faced by the government and people of the country. While citing the verses of Holy Quran he urged his followers to remember all those who sacrificed their lives in Lal Mosque catastrophe and in the other areas of the country while struggling for Islam. He said that he was in a state of shock over the rising suicide terrorist attacks in the country however, he said that only some attacks could be the retaliations of Lal Masjid operation but he never asked his followers to attack. He categorically said that if the government stopped the operation in Balochistan and other provinces then peace would return in the country. He said that during the operation of Lal Masjid he did 'Istakhara regarding his surrender and arrest I also asked my young brother Ghazi Abdul Rasheed for divination but he refused and said that he had decided to sacrifice his life for Islam. Maulana made it clear that he would not knock the door of any court against the former president Musharraf for launching operation in Lal Mosque where hundreds of innocent female and male students lost their lives. God will probe into the matter regarding killing of students, he added.
