Another three die in Karachi unrest

KARACHI - Target killing claimed three more lives including an activist of Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) in different parts of the provincial metropolis on Tuesday. The activist of MQM-H gunned down near Jewellers Market, Korangi in the limits of Awami Colony Police Station. Amir Ahmed,23, a resident of Sector 5-C, Landhi, was standing outside the Jewellers Market, Korangi No 6, when two armed men reached there and opened indiscriminate fire. He received four bullets and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. SHO Shakir Ali said victim was employed at a garments factory as a plumber. He said initial findings revealed the incident was a target killing. MQM-H Afaq group leader Shamshad Ghauri while condemning the killing of Haqiqi workers and leaders, demanded of the government to arrest the culprits involved in the bloodbath. No case was registered till filing of the report. In another incident police found a body of an elderly man from Lasbela Bridge in the limits of Gulbahar Police Station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained. SHO Saabir Khaskheli said victim appeared to be around 58-year-old and received two bullets. Unidentified culprits had thrown the victims body on a bridge after shooting him down which was shifted to ASH for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. The officer said victim appeared to be Pashto-speaking. Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state. Similarly in another incident, police found a bullet-riddled body of a youth near Landhi Degree College in the limits of Awami Colony Police Station. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. SHO Shakir Ali said locals informed to police that a body was lying in bushes, after getting the information police rushed to the scene and recovered the body. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. Officer said victim was wearing pent shirt and appeared to be Urdu-speaking. Police moved his body to the city morgue for identification and registered a case against unidentified culprits.
