Kashmiris' sacrifices not to be allowed go waste: Gilani

In occupied Kashmir, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that unparalleled sacrifices of the Kashmiri people will not be allowed to go waste and the ongoing liberation struggle will be taken to its logical conclusion, at all costs. According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani talking to media men on the sidelines of a seminar in Srinagar deplored the silence of the United Nations over the gross human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian police and troops in the occupied territory. He criticised the recent statement of the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, that the Government of India was taking all measures to protect human rights in Kashmir. "The statement of Ban Ki-Moon is totally unrealistic and devoid of facts. He has given clean chit rather a certificate to India that it is protecting human rights in the Valley. Holding such a high responsible position, he has not done justice to his job by overlooking the ground realities in Kashmir and Wikileaks disclosure on custodial torture of the Kashmiris," he added. Syed Ali Gilani said that for the past 63-years India had been trying to suppress the Kashmiris' just struggle for right to self-determination. He said in 1947, over five lac Muslims were massacred in Jammu and thousands were forced to migrate. "In last two decades, over one lac Kashmiris were killed by the troops and most of them were civilians," he stated. The veteran Hurriyet leader who is spearheading the ongoing Quit Kashmir Campaign maintained that New Delhi resorted to grave human rights violations to suppress the uprising in the territory, this year. "The troopers pumped bullets on the unarmed youth and teenagers killing 112 of them. They imposed curfew for 90 days and conducted arbitrary arrests. I want to tell Ban-Ki Moon that these are measures undertaken by New Delhi to crush the resolve of Kashmiris and not to protect the human rights," he said. Earlier, addressing a seminar 'Usway Hussain (RAH) Darsay Azeemat' organized by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Ali Gilani urged the people to understand the message behind the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RAH).
