Taftan zero point closed

QUETTA A Pakistani official confirmed on Monday that Iranian authorities had closed its border with Pakistan at Taftan, thus suspending trade through the main crossing point between the two countries. Iran had closed the border partially on Sunday after a suicide attack in Pisheen city of southeastern Iran that had resulted in death of seven commanders of Irans elite Revolutionary Guards and 42 other people. Sources say Iranian authorities have also tightened security along the border, adding that people belonging to different tribes living on the two sides of the border are facing enormous difficulties, as Iran has also stopped issuing temporary permits to intending travellers. The suspension of trade has resulted in an acute shortage of foodstuff as most locals depend on Iranian items.
