Lahore High Court (LHC) has asked the federal government to reply about the ban on social network site, facebook and steps taken regarding stoppage of publication of blasphemous material on the site. It is worth mentioning that ban was imposed on facebook on November 04 last year after countrywide protests over publication of blasphemous material which hurt the sentiments of Muslims. The petitioners lawyer Azhar Siddique took the stance in the court that the government could not stop the publication of blasphemous material on facebook despite the court orders. The counsel for the federation submitted before the court that the government is taking measures to stop publication of blasphemous material on facebook as well as other social networking sites.
