ISLAMABAD - Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will soon announce the election schedule for the next president of Pakistan. "We have received notification of Pervez Musharraf 's resignation on August 19 and efforts are afoot to hold elections before September 17," a senior ECP official told TheNation on Wednesday. According to the rules and procedure, the ECP is bound to hold election for the office of president of Pakistan within thirty days. Apart from the four provincial assemblies, National Assembly and the Senate are the electoral college of the president office. There would be five polling stations, one each for provincial assemblies and one in the National Assembly where the senators would also cast their votes. It was further learnt that all the chief justices would act as presiding officers for the presidential election while senior officials of the ECP would act as polling officers.
