Pak-US EDP tocontinue collaborative discussions

ISLAMABAD A delegation of the US Defence Department led by David Ochmanek, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Force Development, is currently on a two-day visit to Pakistan to hold meetings with Pakistan military officials. Sources informed TheNation on Wednesday that the Defence Working Group, known as Exchange on Defence Planning (EDP), would continue the collaborative and productive discussions from the last EDP, which was held in Pakistan on June 7-10 this year. The EDP falls within the framework of the bilateral Strategic Dialogue, which had its second ministerial meeting held here this week. The discussions at the EDP will continue the focus on meeting, which shared security challenges through bilateral strategic-level defence planning. Through the overall strategic dialogue process, the United States and Pakistan agreed to intensify and expand dialogue in the fields of defence, economy and trade, energy, security, strategic stability and non-proliferation, law enforcement and countert-errorism, science and technology, education, agriculture, water, health and communications and public diplomacy.
