Mingora grid station blown up

MINGORA (APP) - The Mingora grid station at Amankot town in Swat district was blown up by unknown militants on Sunday morning resulting in suspension of power supply to some parts of Mingora and adjoining localities. An official of Rahimabad police said that unidentified gunmen detonated the remote controlled bombs planted in grid station at Amankot Chowk in Mangora city that brought injuries to at least four persons. The whole area of Amankot and adjoining localities were put into darkness as people suffered a lot of problems during 'Sehri'. The wounded have been shifted to Saidu Sharif hospital for. When an official of PESCO was contacted, he said repair of grid station will take time and hectic efforts are on to restore power supply as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, the Security Forces successfully cleared restive village Koza Bandai from mines and Improvised Explosive Devices planted by fleeing miscreants and is being handed over to people on Sunday. "Having successfully cleared village Koza Bandai from mines and IEDs planted by fleeing miscreants the area is being handed over today (Sunday) to the peace loving people of Koza Bandai," according to a press release of Media Information Centre Swat here Sunday. The Security Forces have improved the security perimeter around the village by establishing their posts at Siagram, Derai, outlying areas of Koza Bandai. A relief camp has also been set up at Koza Bandai in order to assist the rehabilitation of the incoming displaced people. All the affectees will be provided with immediate relief assistance worth Rs 2 million to start with apart from shelter, foods, medical and other basic needs, while efforts for restoration of electricity are also underway on priority basis, it said. In addition to that, a compensation committee has been established to assess the damage to property of the residents by the government through the provincial relief commissioner where representatives of the local govt along notables of the area will carry out the required estimates and relief work. Compensation would be provided to the deserving affectees in due course of time. Life in Swat remained peaceful, shops were open and people carried out their routine activities. Curfew has been relaxed from 7am to 7pm in the valley.
