ISLAMABAD-A huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered by the security forces during different search operations in Malakand Division in the recent days, is Russian made, it was disclosed. It was after the recovery of the same articles that the security and intelligence authorities had been able to form an asserted opinion about the arms and equipment used by the militants. A survey of arms, ammunition and communication equipment recovered from secret hideouts of Taliban has shown that the arms and ammunition used by them was mostly Russian made, says a reliable source. Some such arms were also recovered as were used by NATO forces fighting in Afghanistan. The recovered articles also include wireless communication equipments of uninterruptible frequency which cannot be used without foreign assistance and training in the use of such equipment. Also the supply of this sort of equipment is not possible without a foreign helping hand. However, this does not absolutely mean that the militants have been getting this arms supply from Russia, the source added. The efforts, so far made to trace the arms supply root of the Taliban, indicate that there was a third party also, which has been supplying arms and ammunition to Taliban through Afghanistan. As per evidences, the third party consisted of agents of Indian Secret Intelligence Authority RAW, who are working with such a great skill that even the militants do not have a perception of reality. This information was revealed after investigations made on a number of arrested militants. A strict watch on some routes during the recent days has also made the Taliban face shortage of arms supply. These findings have also been conveyed to special US envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke and also to US military leadership.
