PTI demands Nadra's services for making voter lists

ISLAMABAD Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, in which it has been prayed that the Election Commission of Pakistan should be directed to commission the services of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in the preparation of electoral lists for the National and provincial assemblies election. Mansoor Sarwar Khan, member Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the PTI, filed the writ petition to put an end to drafting the services of schoolteachers and other departments in the preparation of electoral lists for the aforementioned elections. According to the press release issued on Thursday from the partys central secretariat, Islamabad, it has been mentioned in the writ petition that over 68 percent of the youth aging 18 to 29 have not been included in the voters electoral lists prepared under the redundant, unauthenticated, and inefficient system of preparing electoral lists. Mansoor has also pointed out in the petition that 5 percent of the people with political affiliations have double votes entered in connivance with the staff and 30 percent of the household females in the rural areas are not included in the electoral lists. Furthermore, the last census was conducted in 1997 when the voting age was 21 and all those who were 18 years of age at that time are 33 years of age now but still are not included in the electoral list, he maintained in the petition.
