CM orders case against three officials

LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken serious notice of the unfortunate incident of death of a six-year-old child Ahmad Mujaddad in an open manhole near Mohlanwal in the jurisdiction of Police Station Chung and has ordered registration of a case against Muhammad Sharif, Executive Engineer, Liaqat Hussain, Sub Divisional Officer and Wahaj Wadood Siddiqui, Sub Engineer, of Punjab Buildings Department, Lahore, being found responsible in negligence of duty during preliminary investigation, Local police has arrested the above three accused and registered a case against them. Chief Minister has also immediately suspended Khalid Mahmood Khokhar, Chief Engineer, Punjab Buildings Department, North Zone, Lahore and Muhammad Munir Mir, Superintending Engineer, Provincial Buildings Circle No.1, Lahore, due to ineffective control and lack of supervision upon their subordinate staff. It is learnt that during investigation the accused involved in this incident have offered bribe to the inquiry officer for their acquittal which was rejected. During preliminary investigation, the arrested officials were found guilty of negligence of duty whereas ineffective control and lack of supervision upon the subordinate staff of above mentioned senior officers of Punjab Buildings Dept have also proved. It may be mentioned that the local people while expressing their anguish on the tragic incident of death of six years child Ahmad Mujaddad in an open manhole in Mohlanwal in the jurisdiction of Police Station Chung on June 19 had appealed to Punjab CM for taking action against the officials responsible of this incident.
