LAHORE - Following his demotion from BS-20 to BS-19 after his current charge appointment as Additional Director General Public Relations (Coordination) Abdul Majeed Shahid had to face yet another jolt when his administrative department Thursday withdrew his case for regularisation for the same grade. His case was to be presented in the Provincial Selection Board-I meeting to be held Friday. The Services and General Administration Department also made the Acting Secretary Information, Culture and Youth Affairs Department Nayyar Mehmood as Officer on Special Duty. According to a source, Nayyar was considered to be a support to man-falling-down-the-hill Abdul Majeed Shahid. "Nayyar did not issue termination orders of Shahid Majeed after the Services and General Administration Department had done so earlier," said the source, while Nayyar was not available for comments. The source also divulged that the Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Mehmood had personally given an observation that the post of the ADGPR (Coordination) had been created to benefit single person. "It is because of the reason that the post was created, while the appointment of Shahid Majeed was not approved by the competent authority. Moreover, the process of creation of seat was completed within 17 days from July 7, 2007 to July 25, 2007 since the summary to the Chief Minister Punjab was moved, which is certainly one of the swiftest proceedings ever made for BS-20 post and appointment," he said, also adding that it was only the S&GAD which regulates granting of appointment, posting, promotion, leave, etc while in this case, the Information Department did everything. "Prior to the promotion, mandatory provisional seniority list was neither prepared, issued nor circulated. After this, representations were given to Javed Mehmood, who took action against Shahid Majeed and Nayyar Mehmood," he added. Another officer, who was also dropped from the PSB-I consideration, is Shahbaz Khan, who is a Grade-19 officer in the Directorate of Archaeology Punjab, and has additional charge of Director General Archaeology. According to a source, his Annual Confidential Reports were not complete.
