Power tariff to go up by Rs4 per unit

ISLAMABAD (NNI) - The National Electric Power Regulator Authority (NEPRA) has decided to increase the rates of electricity by Re 1 to 4 per unit and summary in this regard has been sent to the federal government. According to a private TV channel, eight power companies in the country have filed applications to NEPRA regarding increase in the prices after increasing prices of POL products which were reviewed by the technical committee and decided to increase it by rupees 1 to 4 per unit. According to NEPRA sources, increase in prices has been proposed according to domestic, agricultural and commercial customers which will come into effect after the federal government issues notification in this regard. Sources said more increase has been suggested for companies of Haidarabad and Peshawar than other six companies.
