CEC stopped from visiting New Delhi

LAHORE (Online) The government on Saturday barred Chief Election Commissioner and Secretary Election Commission from visiting India in protest against snubbing Pakistani cricket players from Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as Indian behaviour against Pakistan. Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Hamid Ali along with Secretary Election Commission was about to leave for New Delhi at 2:30 am when they were stopped by government at Lahore Airport, official sources informed Online. Sources went on to say that the CEC on the invitation of his Indian counterpart was scheduled to leave for New Delhi for participation in Golden Jubilee ceremony of Indian democracy. During his six-day visit to India, he was scheduled to meet authorities concerned. The CEC along with Secretary ECP left for Islamabad from Lahore via road after they were barred from visiting India. The ECP sources have confirmed the cancellation of CECs trip to India.
