Though the district administration claimed that relief efforts had already been initiated and the government agencies were providing relief, the reports coming from the flood affected area indicated that the government and its agencies were unable to tackle the situation in view of huge devastation. According to media team which visited Bakhtiarabad of Sibi district, some 180km south-east of Quetta told The Nation that the flood had caused destruction on a large scale in the area as 3 to 4 feet deep water was still standing that had submerged the villages, roads, small bridges and agriculture fields. All shops and houses had been damaged while the streets in Tali area wore a water town look while the people had taken refuge on the roof top of their houses. The people are waiting for government relief operation and helicopters to be airlifted for safer areas. 'No government help is seen except one time food for some people while the people from neighbouring villages or the activists of political parties prepared food and provided to the affected people and the district administrative officials are holed up in their residents and offices in Sibi town, disregard of the difficulties and plights of the flood striken people, said Saleem Gishkoori, social worker and former local Nazim.
