JHELUM (Agencies) Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China is not directed against any country, rather it is very critical for regional peace and stability. Any country should not feel any threat from strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China. This cooperation is very crucial for the region. It will lead to peace and stability in the region, he said while addressing jointly with Chinese army Deputy Chief Gen Hou Shusen the concluding ceremony of Pak-China war games near Jhelum on Thursday. China is Pakistans most trusted and all-weather friend and both are tied in the lasting bonds of friendship, he remarked. Pak-China relations dont exist only at government level but they stretch out to people-to-people level, he observed. The army chief said military exercises would foster harmony between the two countries and would help end terrorism. These war games would further boost the bilateral ties between the both countries, he hoped. He went on to say the joint war games were aimed at providing opportunities to benefit from each others expertise. Exchange of view would take place on professional training and the sharing of expertise would help fortify the defence of the two countries, he added. Army Chief was of the view all the other countries including Pakistan and China were facing threat from terrorism. The joint exercises would help fight terrorism in an effective manner, he underlined. Chinese security was very vital for Pakistan, he said, adding that the anti-terror cooperation was being extended to China for elimination of Turkmen Islamic Movement (TIM). Peoples Liberation Army Deputy Chief General Hou Shusen said terrorism was common enemy of both the countries and the joint military exercises would be mutually beneficial. Bilateral relations between Pakistan and China are gaining strength with the passage of time, he observed. Shusen added that such exercises were evidence of efforts made against terrorism in the region.
