ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Thursday said that it has not received any intimation so far that the Libyan foreign mission in Islamabad has raised the rebels flag at the Embassy compound. Our diplomatic mission in Tripoli is fully operational and is also monitoring the situation. We believe that at this point in time, the situation is in a flux. So we continue monitoring the situation and in doing so we are guided by respect for the principles of sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of all states, Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua told the weekly press briefing here. In contrast, the Libyan Embassy has raised the red, black and green flag emblazoned with a white crescent and star fluttered in breeze. Sources privy to the development said that Libyan Ambassador to Pakistan in consultation with diplomatic staff had changed the official green flag on Wednesday. However, despite repeated efforts, neither the ambassador nor any other senior official were available till filing of this report for their comment about changing of the flag. On issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) about movement of diplomats in Pakistan, the spokesperson said that Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for issuing NOC. Commenting on the issue of restrictions and movement of foreign diplomats in Pakistan, the spokesperson said, Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible to address all the issues relating to the movement of diplomats. Replying to another question, the spokesperson denied issuing any orders to 200 US diplomats to leave Pakistan within next 30 days adding that reports published in the press in this regard are not correct. About the Pak-US relations, the spokesperson said as the Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has already mentioned that there are some operational details, which are being worked out between the two countries. She said that there are some of the concerns on both sides and these are being discussed. We continue to engage with the United States for building partnership for our shared goals, she added. She said, It remains our belief that this relationship is crucial for the peace and stability of the entire region and beyond. The realization on both the sides about the importance of this partnership and the need for it to be founded upon mutual trust and respect was fully acknowledged, during the Secretary of States conversation with the Foreign Minister over the telephone a few days ago. On the issue of human rights violations in the Indian-held Kashmir and issue of mass grave, the spokesperson said that it is important that human rights should be respected in Indian Occupied Kashmir and the crimes related to violation of human rights should be punished accordingly. About the statement of Bramdagh Bugti who is living in Switzerland, the spokesperson said that Pakistan has already taken up the issue of Bramdagh Bugtis presence with Swiss authorities. The spokesperson said as part of regional outreach, President Asif Ali Zardari visited Bahrain on August 17 on the invitation of King Hammad bin Isa Al Khalifa. She said that the two leaders had held extensive and wide-ranging discussions during this visit. They agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations and consolidate cooperation in the economic, trade and political fields, adding the two leaders also discussed regional and global developments. The spokesperson said that Pakistan and China have very deep-rooted relations and Pakistan is always happy with the development in China. Answering yet another question about the US-Afghanistan strategic partnership deal that would allow the US to retain some bases and troops in the war-torn country till 2024, she said that it was for the government and people of Afghanistan to decide about the future of the presence of US and Nato forces in Afghanistan.
