ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Thursday received a letter with the message 'a bomb has been planted inside the SC building that may blast on August 26 or 27. The letter dated 25-08-2011 was found from a cameraman of a private TV channel near the Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) vans at Supreme Court car parking. The cameraman immediately brought it to the notice of the police, who then informed the Registrar SC. The bomb disposal squad was called which after checking cleared the entire building. The letter, written by Summandar Khan and Oman Khan, stated: A bomb has been planted in the Supreme Court building that will blast on Friday or Saturday. They said that they had entered the SC building with the connivance of Islamabad police as they had paid them Rs 2.5 million. They also used foul language against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and President Asif Ali Zardari and threatened them to kill. Its worth mentioning here that a five-member bench of the apex court would start hearing the suo moto on Karachi violence from Friday. A security personnel on the condition of anonymity said this might be a ploy to deferred hearing of Karachi unrest case. Almost two weeks ago such tactics were used to prevent FIA Additional Director General Zafar Qureshi from entering the FIA Camp office, Lahore, so that he could not resume inquiry into NICL scam. Khawaja Hammad, Assistant Director FIA, on August 17 had told a three-member which heard the NICL case that on Friday (August 12) Director Waqar Haider came to his office and said that he was under pressure, therefore, adopted such a plan that Zafar Qureshi could not enter into the building. He also informed that same strategy was used by FIA when they had to present Moonis Elahi, the accused in NICL, before a trial court in Lahore. Such kinds of threats were also given to Supreme Court judges in the past as well. Last year in September also the threats were hurled to the judges and their families. In the wake of it a high-level meeting was held at the Supreme Court building, attended by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, all High Courts Chief Justices, Interior Secretary, FIA Director, Chief Secretaries and Inspector Generals of Police.
