9 more gunned down in Karachi

KARACHI The nephew of MQM-H leader among nine were gunned down in different incidents of target killing here on Friday. A nephew of MQM-H leader Amir Khan was shot dead near Crown Garden in the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Police Station. The victim, 24-year-old Mohammad Sabih, son of Azam Khan was driving a car when two armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted him and open indiscriminate fire. Resultantly, Sabih sustained severe bullet injuries and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medial Centre for legal formalities. SHO Asif Jakhrani said victim was the resident of Malir Cantt and was gunned down at University Road, Block-4, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. MQM-H leader Feroz Haider said victim, a nephew of MQM-H chairman Amir Khan, used to run furniture business in Liaquatabad. He said victim was unmarried. Haider further said his death was target killing. He said eight men of his party were killed in the ongoing target killings and law enforcement agencies were unsuccessful to curb this menace. Separately, body of an MQM activist was found from an ice depot located at Bhimpura within the limits of Nippier Police Station. The victim, Furqan alias Bhola Mechanic, 30, was a resident of Bhimpura. SHO Nawaz Gondal said victim was a resident of Bhimpura, Ranchore Line. The victim a motorcycle mechanic and used to run a shop in same area where he resided. He said victim was kidnapped from Lyari Khadda Market where he went to see his friend in the wee hours of Friday. Victim was the father of a daughter and an active worker of MQM Ranchore line sector. Situation in the area remained tense after the incident and all commercial and non commercial activities came to a grinding halt. Similarly, police found another body of a youth from Karim Abad Bridge in the limits of Azizabad Police Station. The victim, Adnan, 31, son of Mumtaz was the resident of Block-2, Azizabad FB Area. SHO Haseeb Qureshi said police found his body from Karim Abad Bridge, who was thrown there by the unidentified accused. The victim had two bullets injuries on his head. He said victim got married eight months ago and he had no affiliation with any political party. Police believed that personal enmity was the motive behind the incident. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities and later handed over to his heirs. An activist of MQM-H was gunned down near Muhammadi Ground, Landhi in the limits of Landhi Police Station. The victim Anwar, 28, son of Ameer Riaz was a resident of Sector-4, Landhi, while police found his bullets-riddled body from Muhammadi Football Ground. SHO Mazhar Iqbal said victim had bullet injuries on his head and chest. Police also received two empty shells of 9 MM pistol from the spot. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities and later handed over his family. MQM-H leader Feroz Haider said victim was an activist of his organisation. In another incident, a young man was shot dead in Landhi Railway Ground in the precincts of Shah Latif Police Station. The victim, Fazal Haq, 22, was a resident of New Chalie Quaidabad. He was kidnapped by unidentified armed men. The body had torture marks. Separately, another young man was shot dead at his house at Mawach Road in the limits of Maripur Police Station. The victim, Mohammad Siddique, 26, son of Mohammad Usman was the resident of Kachi Para Mawach Road. Usman was sleeping at his home when two armed men barged into the house and opened fire on him. He sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. SHO Nasarullah said victim used to run a jewellery shop and personal enmity could be the possible reason behind his murder. Victim belonged to Kachi Community. Police had registered a case on the complaint of victims brother Nazeer. In another incident a man was shot dead in Teachers Society in the limits of Sacchal Police Station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained. According to details, deceased was sitting on roadside at Teachers Society Gulshan-e-Iqbal, when unidentified men reached there and opened fire. He received one bullet on his head and died on the spot. The body was brought to JPMC and later moved to Edhi Morgue. Police said victim appeared to be Afghan national and motive of murder was yet unclear. Police have registered a case against unidentified assailants on the complaint of State. Meanwhile, a wounded activist of MQM succumbed to his injures on Friday. Deceased had sustained bullet wounds on March 21 in Gulshan-e-Zia area within the limits of Pakistan Bazaar Police Station and was admitted to ASH. Police said victim was an activist of unit 118-B, Orangi Town.
