PM wants better ties with India

ISLAMABAD (NNI) - Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that constructive engagement with India is essential for the two states to head towards the goal of establishing good-neighbourly relations. Pakistan wants to move towards comprehensive and broad-ranging engagements with India, said the prime minister while talking to Foreign Affairs Secretary Salman Bashir and Commerce and Trade Secretary Zafar Mahmood who called on him at the Prime Ministers House on Tuesday ahead of trade talks between Pakistan and India. During the meeting the agency of the forthcoming talks was discussed. He asked the commerce secretary to take on board all the stakeholders for establishment of mutually beneficial trade relations with India. The commerce secretary informed the prime minister that Pakistan-India trade volume was around $ 2 billion. He said that 1,946 items are being traded between the two countries. He discussed details of the talks agenda with the prime minister.
