THE government has once again decided to raise the power tariffs, a private TV channel reported Wednesday. According to the channel, the increase in the power tariff will be made in phases, as the tariff would be raised six percent in October of the current year. The second raise of 12 percent would be effected in January next year 2010. According to sources privy to the Finance Ministry, the recent raise in power tariffs has been decided in order to reduce the weight of the overdue loans on government departments.
