Thousands denied offering Juma prayers at Faisal Mosque

ISLAMABAD (INP) - Thousands of people of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas could not offer Jumatul Wida prayers at Faisal Mosque as traffic was jammed due to closure of routes for security of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani who offered the prayers and participated in collective Dua for peace in Karachi at the Faisal Mosque. People in thousands attend the Friday and Eid prayers at Faisal Mosque but they faced immense difficulties as the traffic to the mosque was closed and there was extremely hot weather. People also could not go to the mosques along the Margalla Road which was the route of the Prime Ministers convoy. Among those who could not offer their Juma prayers included women and disabled persons. The traffic jam became unmanageable as several vehicles exhausted CNG and petrol while waiting in lines. The Juma prayers at Faisal mosque was offered at 1.30 pm but the route was closed one hour before and the crowd of people became unmanageable.
