LAHORE Eid Milad-un-Nabi falling on 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, to mark the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is being celebrated today (Saturday) with great religious fervour and enthusiasm throughout the country and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The day will dawn with 31-gun salute in the Federal capital and 21-gun salute in the four provincial capitals. Special prayers will be held after Fajr prayers for the solidarity and integrity of the country and the nation. It will be a public holiday. Radio and TV channels will air special programmes on the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) while newspapers will bring out special editions. All the public and private buildings, commercial centres, bazaars and streets have been illuminated and decorated with buntings and banners as well as welcome slogans to mark the religious festival. Special religious meetings, Milad and Seerat conferences, will be held at mosques and public places to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Naat mehfils will be organised in almost every street and mohallah and even in villages. The faithful will also bring out processions to express their happiness and joy on the occasion. Punjab Auqaf Department has arranged special Seerat conference at provincial and divisional levels. Various religious groups and parties have also arranged Seerat conferences and Milad mehfils. Women have arranged separate Milad meetings. Private houses were also illuminated while sweets would be distributed among the neighbours and the poor. In Lahore, main Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession will be brought out from Milad Chowk outside Delhi Gate following a Milad meeting. The procession will march through Old Kotwali, Kashmiri Bazaar, Rang Mahal, Lohari, Circular Road and converge at Data Darbar in the evening. The procession will be led by Mina Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and others. Another main procession will be brought out from Lahore Railway Station organised by Markazi Milad Committee organised by Malik Aftab Rabbani. A parade and a march past will be held by Civil Defence, Rangers, Boys scouts, etc. The procession will travel on its traditional route from Lahore Railway Station to Australasia Chowk, Brandreth Road, Railway Road, Gwalmandi, Mayo Hospital, Chowk Shahalam, Anarkali, Circular Road and converge at Data Darbar in the evening. The participants of the procession will be wearing turbans. Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan has arranged a procession from Jamia Rizvia Firdous Market. Qari Zowar Bahadur will lead the procession. Idara Seerat-e-Mustaqeem will organise a procession. Allama Atharul Qadri will lead a procession from Thokar Niaz Beg at 2pm.
