BUREWALA Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan has maintained that President Ali Zardari was pursing a persistent course of tussle with superior judiciary and wanted to dislodge the institution through constitutional reforms. Moreover, Nawaz Sharifs U-turn on constitutional reforms is aimed at strengthening ruling class and his friendly opposition is providing shelter to the government who continues to follow Musharraf policies. The PTI Chief was addressing his party workers as well as a press conference at the residence of Shahbaz Dogar here Friday. Imran said 8,000 people have embezzled Rs 1,060 billion of the national kitty and Zardari managed to get Rs 140 billion under NRO cover. He said the government was imposing new taxes on the people to cope with the losses of Pakistan Steel Mills. According to him, rental power projects are major source of corruption and fraud of the history of the country as Asian Development Bank report suggested that government gave 14 per cent advance payment instead of seven per cent from national exchequer. Imran termed 2010 general elections year in the country and urged the party workers to prepare themselves, as he was not seeing the present government completing its term. Addressing party workers he said the next elections would bring a revolution in the country as the masses wanted to get rid of the opportunist rulers. He said like the superior judiciary, the PTI always wanted neutral umpires in the election commission, as it would make coming elections free, fair and transparent. He said the rulers were hatching conspiracies against the independent judiciary, but the PTI would not let the authorities to do so. He stressed upon the need for stopping electricity theft, ending loadshedding and reduction in tariff. He said PTI would field its candidate in NA-167 after consulting party workers. He added that PTI emerged as the second largest party in the by-polls but results of five by-polls suggest that government created record vis-a-vis bad practices to benefit its candidates. PTI Vice-President Ijaz Chaudhry, Provincial General Secretary Asif Ali Khan, Nadeem Qadir Bhindar, Deputy Chief Organiser South Punjab Shabbir Sial and other party leaders were present on the occasion.
