ISLAMABAD - President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday announced to shed some of his political responsibilities as PPP Co-Chairman saying that party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be taking up some political responsibility in September this year. Zardari made this announcement while addressing PPP Parliamentarians and office- bearers from Gujranwala division at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in a bid to take them on board about the potential power deal being discussed between the PPP and PML-Q. Later, spokesperson to the President. Farhatullah Babar said that the President was of the view that that despite negative propaganda against the government and PPP, gigantic challenges have been surmounted successfully by making significant achievements on all fronts. 'PPP would continue the forward march and conquer all the challenges, he added. The President said that in the next two years we have to reach out to the people and also make new political alignments. He reiterated firm resolve of the government and the party to serve the country and the masses with full dedication and putting the country back on the path of progress and prosperity. Zardari urged the party Parliamentarians and office-bearers to dedicate themselves for the welfare of the people as the performance of the government will speak and determine party position in the next general elections to be held after two years. He said that the PPP after completing more than half of its tenure in the government the party has now entered into the election mode and asked party workers and MPs to enhance contacts with voters of their respective constituencies. 'PPP being the major political force and equally popular in all parts of the country would continue to work for strengthening democratic institutions in the country besides restoring law and order and economic stability in the country, he added. Zardari further said that the people have reposed great confidence in the party and we all must struggle both individually and collectively to rise to their expectations and could proudly face the voters in the next elections. He asked them to analyse the results of each and every by-election with a view to drawing lessons from it and enable you to prepare for future electoral contests in an effective manner. The spokesperson said that there was also a discussion on the results of by- elections in Punjab and the lessons learnt from it. The President said that a party was also in a way like individual and said that the greater the inner strength of a party the greater is ability to approach its weakness with courage and hope. Zardari also touched on the Presidential reference to revisit the case of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for which the Supreme Court has already constituted a bench for hearing. He said that party had no intentions to seek revenge from anybody by sending the reference to the Supreme Court but the party just wanted to put right a historic wrong. The Party MPs and office-bearers present during the meeting spoke on host of issues including current political situation, coalition matters, alliance adjustment, party organisation and also raised issues relating to their constituencies. He assured them that their issues concerning their constituencies would be addressed. The meeting reposed full confidence in the leadership of the PPP Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari.
