ISLAMABAD - JUI Jirga has suspended negotiations with Lashkar-e-Islam and Ansar ul Islam in Tirah Valley and Bara while the members of Jirga have returned to Peshawar. A private TV channel reported armed clashes between two tribes were continuing in Teerah Valley since last several months and over 140 person had been killed and hundreds were injured during the last month when heavy arms were used in the gun battle. JUI had set up a Jirga to bring the warring tribes to reconciliation besides brokering ceasefire. A delegation of Jirga met Qazi Mehboob ul Haq, Amir Ansar ul Salam in Valley Teerah. Qazi made it clear to the members of delegation they were ready to hold talks with them in accordance with the traditions and customs of the area. Another delegation of JUI had returned to Peshawar after holding negotiations with Amir Lashkar-e-Islam Mangal Bagh. Jirga was led by JUI NWFP Amir Ejaz Shanwari. Mangal Bagh made it clear that they were ready to hold talks with Amir Qazi Mehboob ul Haq. JUI Jirga comprising 53 members was engaged in reconciliatory efforts since the last 3 weeks but it has failed to achieve any success so far. The strength of Jirga has also been reduced from 53 to 5 and wave of despair is gripping the tribesmen following the inconclusive talks.
