8 killed in NWA drone attack

PESHAWAR At least eight persons believed to be militants were killed and one other was injured, when an unmanned US spy plane fired four missiles on two separate localities of North Waziristan Agency on Friday. Sources said that the first attack was launched in Kuram area of Tehsil Data Khail in North Waziristan agency, when US drone targeted a vehicle. The attack resulted in killing of four persons on the spot while the car was reduced to scratch of twisted metal. The second attack was launched in Sheen Bond area of North Waziristan agency where the drone fired two missiles on a house. The attack resulted in the killing of four persons. Soon after the attacks, tribal people rushed toward the site and contributed in the rescue activities on self-help basis. Both the drone attacks resulted in the killing of eight persons, however the exact identity of the killed persons is yet to be ascertained. Sources added that two militants were killed and one other was injured in the pre-dawn attack on a house in Sheen Band area in Mir Ali district, 30 kilometres northeast of main town of Miranshah. It is worthy to note here that despite the repeated protests of Pakistani high ups against the violation of Pakistani airspace, US and its allied forces have kept up the surveillance system in Pakistani tribal belt, which have so far killed hundreds of militants and injured many others.
